The Latest on an unclaimed winning lottery ticket worth $63 million (all times local):
California Lottery officials say nobody has stepped forward with the winning ticket for the record $63 million SuperLottoPlus jackpot — but it's too early to call a forfeit.
While nobody had a verified claim or winning ticket by the time the deadline passed Thursday, lottery spokesman Alex Traverso says some claims are still being looked into and the process could go on into next week.
One man is suing in Los Angeles, claiming he submitted the winning ticket but it was rejected as being damaged. He wants a court to declare him the winner.
If it's found that no genuine claim was made before the deadline, the largest state jackpot in history will go to the public schools.
Incidentally, the winning ticket was sold on Aug. 8 at a 7-Eleven store in Los Angeles. The winning numbers were: 46-1-33-30-16 and the Mega number: 24.
