A northwestern Alabama deputy and a suspect have both been wounded after a shootout in Florence.
Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton tells local news outlets that Deputy Randall McCrary was hit twice Wednesday evening, but his injuries as of late Wednesday didn't appear to be life-threatening. The suspect's condition is not yet known.
Singleton says deputies were serving commitment papers to an unidentified Florence man earlier that evening, when there was an exchange of gunfire.
There were at least two other deputies present during the shootout. Singleton did not give further details about the incident.
Authorities say both McCrary and the other person shot were communicating when they were rushed away from the scene.
