A central Oklahoma university is on lockdown after officials say an armed suspect fleeing police crossed onto the campus.
Kenny Day, a spokesman for Oklahoma Baptist University, says the Shawnee Police Department notified campus officials of the chase around 4:30 p.m. and the lockdown was immediately issued.
Day says police believe the suspect is armed but there were no immediate reports of shots fired on the campus. A sports facility near the university's baseball and softball fields where the suspect fled was evacuated.
It wasn't immediately clear why the suspect was being sought.
The university, located about 40 miles east of Oklahoma City, is a Christian liberal arts school with enrollment of around 2,000.
A Shawnee police spokesman didn't immediately return a message seeking comment.
