RICHMOND, Va. – One of three Virginia men charged in an alleged plot to attack synagogues and black churches has pleaded guilty to a robbery conspiracy.
U.S. District Court records show that 30-year-old Charles D. Halderman pleaded guilty Wednesday. He faces up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced April 25.
According to authorities, Halderman and two other Richmond-area men plotted to rob a silver and coin dealer and use the money to finance a race war.
The two other men, 33-year-old Ronald B. Chaney III and 34-year-old Robert C. Doyle, face firearms charges as well as the robbery conspiracy charge. They were arrested after allegedly trying to buy guns and explosives from FBI agents posing as firearms dealers. They are scheduled for trial March 21.
