New Orleans police: Officer shot in Lower 9th Ward

NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans police say a law enforcement officer has been shot and is being treated at a hospital.

Police spokeswoman Hilal Williams says the officer was shot in the Lower 9th Ward section of the city. The neighborhood saw some of the most devastation in the city from Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Police did not give further details about the shooting or about any suspect.
