Secret Service officer suspended after home break-in is shot, killed

A uniformed officer in the U.S. Secret Service who was suspended earlier this year was shot and killed Tuesday in a residential neighborhood in southwest Washington and police were looking for three people connected to the incident, Fox 5 reported.

Arthur Baldwin was reportedly placed on leave and had his security clearance suspended in April after he was charged with trying to break into his girlfriend’s home while armed. He had a court appearance a few hours before the shooting.

“Secret Service is aware of the information. We express condolences to the family of our employee. Any inquiries regarding the investigation should be directed to Metropolitan Police Department.”

Baldwin was scheduled for trial in February.
