Officials at the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis campus are warning students to remain indoors amid police reports of an armed man running toward the campus.
The campus issued an alert shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday. It says "a subject with a gun has been reported running toward campus" and urges students and staff to find a safe shelter and lock doors.
Later updates by the university posted on Twitter said the campus alert followed an armed robbery and that there had been no injuries.
IUPUI spokesman Rich Schneider directed calls to Indianapolis police, saying they were handling the response to the situation on campus, just west of downtown Indianapolis.
Police spokesman Officer Rafael Diaz said he did not have any immediate information on the search for the armed man.
