A Maine man accused of mailing poison to a British man who used it to kill himself has been indicted on new charges, including witness tampering and witness retaliation.

Sidney Kilmartin previously pleaded not guilty to federal charges of mailing injurious articles to Andrew Denton, of Hull, England, who used cyanide to kill himself.

The Portland Press Herald (http://bit.ly/1NnmiC0 ) reports that the 53-year-old Windham man was indicted Wednesday on superceding charges of mailing injurious articles resulting in death, mail and wire fraud, witness tampering and witness retaliation.

Kilmartin is accused of mailing the cyanide to keep Denton from telling investigators about Kilmartin's wire and mail fraud scheme. Kilmartin allegedly advertised and mailed a substance he claimed was cyanide to several suicidal people. The substance was actually Epsom salt.

Kilmartin's attorney didn't immediately respond to a call seeking comment on the new charges.
