INDIANA, Pennsylvania – Black students at a Pennsylvania university are protesting a picture of black students posted on social media with a caption comparing them to animals.
Indiana University of Pennsylvania President Michael Driscoll met with the students at the state-owned school.
He tried to assure them that the school was investigating the matter and sensitive to their concerns. But he also asked that people stop threatening the student suspected of posting the picture while school officials investigate.
The Snapchat picture showed a group of black students inside the campus library with the caption "monkeys stay in groups."
Driscoll says privacy regulations prevent him from speaking about the student suspected of posting the picture or what discipline she might face.
About 50 students marched across campus Wednesday to demand answers from Driscoll.
