A 19-year-old Cleveland man charged in the fatal shooting of a 5-month-old girl as her mother drove to a store for birthday cake supplies has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder and other charges.
Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH'-guh) County court records show a judge raised Davon Holmes' bond from $1.5 million to $2 million when he appeared for arraignment on Wednesday.
Holmes is charged in the Oct. 1 slaying of Aavielle Wakefield. She was struck by gunfire while riding in a car. No one else in the vehicle was injured.
The court has assigned two attorneys for Holmes. One didn't immediately respond to a message Wednesday seeking comment. The phone number for the other lawyer rang unanswered.
Police have said tips from the public led to Holmes' arrest in late November.
