Syrian refugees are still scheduled to be resettled in Texas, even as the state fights their arrival with a lawsuit and letters threatening the agencies working to help them find a new home.

Nearly 250 Syrian refugees have settled in Texas in the last five years, and more Syrians are expected to arrive this week.

Following the Nov. 13 Paris attacks, several Republican governors have called for rejecting new Syrian refugees, but Texas and Gov. Greg Abbott have fought it harder than any other.

Texas sued the federal government and refugee aid group International Rescue Committee on Wednesday, citing the expected arrival of more Syrians.

Refugees in Texas say they've mostly received a warm welcome, although a series of incidents over the last year suggest growing anti-Muslim and anti-Syrian sentiment.
