DETROIT – Police say a young man and a teenage girl were fatally shot in a car on Detroit's east side and two children who were sitting atop the vehicle were injured as the driver tried to flee.
The car was in a store parking lot Tuesday afternoon when two people approached and started shooting. According to police, the man tried to drive away and a girl and a boy were injured when they fell off the car. The car hit a building before stopping.
The Detroit News reports the man and the girl in the car, who was 13 or 14, died.
Sgt. Cassandra Lewis says the girl who was atop the car was in critical condition while the boy was in stable condition. Police say the shooters fled on foot.
