Three people are dead and more than a dozen injured after a crash involving a car, a multi-passenger van and a pickup truck with a trailer carrying cows in New Jersey.
State police say the crash happened Saturday night about 30 miles west of New York City on Interstate 287. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene and a third was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Sixteen people were transported to hospital with injuries. Two of those have serious injuries but were reported to be in stable condition.
Some of the cattle were killed in the crash.
Traffic was detoured around the area for a time but the interstate has reopened.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. State police say they'll release more information later Sunday.
