ELIZABETH, N.J. – Two former New Jersey day care workers accused of organizing a fight club for preschool children have been denied admission into a pre-trial probationary program.
NJ.com reports (http://bit.ly/1PAwcFV ) 22-year-old Erica Kenny and 28-year-old Chanese White applied to enter an intervention program that would've resulted in dismissal of all charges and wiped their records.
Union County assistant prosecutor Michael Sheets said Wednesday their applications were rejected by the program's director.
Authorities say Kenny and White instigated fights among children from 4 to 6 years old at the Lightbridge Academy in Cranford.
Kenny and White are charged with child abuse. Kenny also is accused of recording the fights and is charged with endangering the welfare of a child. They've pleaded not guilty.
A judge says the case will go before a grand jury for a hearing on the charges.
