New violence in Israel..
2 are dead and 11 injured after a stabbing attack at yet another bus station. Israel is in the middle of a major security crackdown as random terror attacks have become a nearly daily occurrence. Secretary of State John Kerry calling for peace talks.
Not a whole lot on the campaign calendar today. Bernie Sanders holding a Town Meeting in Oskaloosa, Iowa at Noon.
Donald Trump has an event at 6pm. Trump is on offense today. He reiterated an attack on GW Bush over 9/11, and the war in Iraq. He also again criticized Jeb Bush. He and Jeb have been in a war of words all weekend. Trump was on Fox and Friends this morning.
Here’s how the Washington Post reporter Karoun Demirjian described it today, “But Trump's campaign to discredit George Bush for his response to the Sept. 11 attacks and their aftermath has put Jeb Bush on the defensive at a time when Bush's presidential campaign has been foundering.”
The Sunday shows turned testy yesterday.. with battle breaking out over the Benghazi Committee. Its role and its record under fire by Democrats and some journalists. The lead Republican, Trey Gowdy, defended the committee just four days before Hillary Clinton is expected to testify.
Here’s how The New York Times put it today, “Mr. Gowdy tried to push back on the mounting criticism of the committee for using the Benghazi attacks as a way to undermine Mrs. Clinton's bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. Mr. Gowdy said the committee was focused on the Benghazi attacks, not Mrs. Clinton or her personal email account.”
Trey Gowdy was on “CBS This Morning.”
Meanwhile on Meet the Press, Andrea Mitchell accused another Republican on the Committee of dishonesty.
Catherine Herridge is reporting on the State Department during Hillary Clinton’s time as Secretary of State. She reports on the requests for more help from the Ambassador to Libya who was killed in the September 11, 2012 attack.
