The University of Minnesota says former athletic director Norwood Teague failed to disclose that he was facing a gender discrimination complaint at the time he was recruited and hired.

Teague resigned this month after he was accused of sexually harassing two administrators.

The university had hired Parker Executive Search in 2012 to find an athletic director and check the backgrounds of leading candidates. The Star Tribune (http://strib.mn/1Lgvbhm ) reports Parker asked candidates to disclose any potential issues of controversy or concern. Teague signed a statement saying no such issues existed.

The search failed to reveal that the women's basketball coach at Virginia Commonwealth University filed a complaint against Teague when he was athletic director there. VCU settled the complaint for $125,000.

Attempts to contact Teague for comment have gone unanswered.
