A Phoenix woman says she feels sorry for the man suspected of decapitating her daughter, saying he has a long history of mental illness and will be devastated when he realizes what he has done.
Peggy Stowe told KTVK-TV (http://bit.ly/1DLKqtr) she can't get the grisly killing out of her mind.
The body of 49-year-old Trina Heisch was found Saturday morning in the Phoenix home she shared with her husband. Stowe said both had histories of mental illness.
Investigators say when a neighbor went to check on Heisch Saturday, her 43-year-old husband opened the door nude and with several self-inflicted injuries, including a severed left forearm and a missing eye.
Police say the husband is being treated for his injuries and will be charged once he is released.
