Attorneys representing relatives of some of the nine black churchgoers shot to death last month in Charleston don't want police records and 911 calls released.
In papers filed Wednesday, several lawyers ask a judge to extend an order temporarily blocking the information from being made public.
Earlier this month, Circuit Judge J.C. Nicholson said he was worried such a release could affect Dylann Roof's ability to get a fair trial.
Attorneys representing The Associated Press and other media organizations are seeking the release of the documents. A hearing will be scheduled.
Roof faces state charges including nine murder counts. On Wednesday, a federal grand jury indicted him on dozens of hate crimes, firearms violations and obstructing the practice of religion.
Federal prosecutors also want the information withheld.
