Police in Connecticut say a pair of severed human legs have been found near a railroad station in New Haven.

Officer David Hartman, a New Haven Police spokesman, says a man flagged down an officer Wednesday morning and led him to the body parts, which were located in thick foliage along the fence line near the State Street Railroad Station.

The station and some nearby streets were closed, and the department's Major Crimes Division was called in to investigate.

Hartman says no other body parts have been found. He says the legs are being sent to the state medical examiner to try to determine the age, gender and race of the person.

Hartman says police are investigating whether the discovery can be linked to any reports of a missing person.
