A woman claiming to be the mother of an infant discovered in a car seat carrier on the side of the road in Maryland has contacted authorities.
Officials with the Anne Arundel County Police Department say the three-month-old girl was found just before midnight in a scuffed carrier in Pasadena after a resident called to report the abandoned child.
Authorities say the scuff marks lead them to believe the carrier may have fallen from a moving car.
Police say a woman has contacted them, saying she is the child's mother. Police are working to confirm the claim.
The baby was taken to a local hospital after she was discovered, and will be released to the Department of Child Protective Services.
