A West Virginia woman accused of deliberately making her 9-year-old son sick by contaminating his IV at a Cincinnati hospital has pleaded guilty to a charge of child endangering and has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Cincinnati court officials say Candida Fluty (kan-DEE'-dah FLOO'-tee) entered the plea Wednesday under an agreement with prosecutors.

The 35-year-old resident of Kermit earlier pleaded not guilty to felonious assault and child endangering charges and could have received eight years in prison if convicted of all charges.

Fluty's attorney didn't immediately return a call seeking comment.

Prosecutors say Fluty's son has a condition affecting the bowels. They say fecal matter put in his IV at the hospital in January caused his fever to spike. Prosecutors have indicated Fluty might have been seeking attention.
