Police in Maryland say officers shot a man at a home who confronted officers with what they believed was a gun.

Baltimore County officers were called to the home in Owings Mills around 1 a.m. Thursday for a domestic situation. Once they arrived, police say officers heard a disturbance inside and forced their way in.

That's when police say officers were confronted by a man who produced what they believed was a gun and multiple officers opened fire. The man was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police spokesman Cpl. John Wachter says investigators were searching the scene to determine whether the man had a gun.

Wachter says a woman and two children inside the home were not injured.
