Prosecutors say an Oklahoma man charged with sexually abusing children at a Kenya orphanage was a "wolf in sheep's clothing."
But attorneys for Matthew Lane Durham told a federal jury Thursday that the 20-year-old was coerced into confessing after he was held in isolation and his passport was taken by officials at the Upendo Children's Home in Nairobi.
The statements came during closing arguments Thursday in Durham's trial in Oklahoma City. If convicted of the charges, which include aggravated sexual abuse, Durham could face up to life in prison.
Jurors began deliberating Thursday afternoon.
Durham testified in his own defense earlier this week, saying the allegations aren't true. But prosecutors say Durham couldn't "resist the urges" while volunteering at the orphanage.
