Prosecutor: Fatal shooting of man who fired at Arkansas law enforcement was justified

A central Arkansas prosecutor says the fatal shooting of a handcuffed man in the back of a sheriff's patrol car was justified, because the suspect had a concealed handgun that he fired at officers.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (http://bit.ly/1M4Uty8 ) reports that Lonoke County Prosecuting Attorney Chuck Graham says his office reviewed evidence from an Arkansas State Police investigation and determined authorities were justified in the May 19 shooting death of 35-year-old Jonathan McIntosh.

Graham says McIntosh had hidden the weapon under layers of clothing so it couldn't be found when he was frisked.

Lonoke County Sheriff John Staley says missing a weapon during a pat-down search is unfortunate but that it happens.
