Authorities say 176 people were arrested at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway over race weekend, mostly for alcohol-related infractions, marking a 17 percent drop from a year ago.

Indiana State Excise Police, the law enforcement division of the Alcohol and Tobacco Commission, issued 141 summonses for illegal possession or consumption of an alcoholic beverage from Friday to Sunday.

Other offenses included possession of false identification, resisting law enforcement, furnishing alcoholic beverages to a minor, sale of alcoholic beverages without a permit, and drug-related charges.

Last year, excise officers arrested 211 people during race weekend.

Police in the town of Speedway reported seven arrests in and around the track on Sunday for public intoxication, battery, pointing a firearm and other infractions. Speedway police also made two arrests overnight Saturday.
