WACO, Texas – About 170 people have been jailed in a deadly shootout involving rival motorcycle gangs that unfolded last weekend at a Texas restaurant.
The suspects have been charged with engaging in organized crime, and authorities say more arrests are likely. The confrontation in Waco killed nine people and wounded 18.
Each of the bikers is being held on $1 million bond. It's unclear how long they will be in custody.
Police say the gathering of five biker groups was called to resolve a dispute over turf. Some of the bikers dispute that, saying the meeting was organized to discuss laws protecting motorcycle riders and other subjects.
