Prosecutors say a New York Police Department psychologist accused of shooting her sleeping husband told investigators she was out cold from a blow to the head at the time.

Emily Dearden pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of second-degree attempted murder and assault. Several of her statements, as transcribed by Yonkers detectives, were made public.

She is accused of shooting Kenneth Dearden as he slept in their Yonkers, New York, home Nov. 14, 2013. He survived and has filed a lawsuit alleging she shot him in the head.

According to the transcript, Emily Dearden told detectives she woke up during the night and went downstairs, where she was knocked unconscious from behind. She said the next thing she remembers is her bloodied husband shaking her awake.
