Officials say a fifth person has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of two Mississippi police officers last weekend.

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety says 29-year-old Abram Wade "Pete" Franklin of Hattiesburg is charged with obstruction of justice. He's being held in jail awaiting his initial appearance in court. It was unknown whether he had an attorney to contact for comment.

In a news release Wednesday, the agency did not provide further details, saying only that information developed during the investigation into the deaths of Hattiesburg police Officers Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate led to the charges.

Marvin Banks is jailed without bond on two capital murder charges. His girlfriend, Joanie Calloway; younger brother, Curtis Bank; and a friend, Cornelius Clark, also face charges in the case.
