A Northern California police officer has shot a woman who rammed a stolen vehicle into an undercover police car.

The San Jose Mercury News reports (http://bayareane.ws/1CQkbjq ) San Leandro police tried to pull over the woman in East Oakland on Wednesday, but she drove on a sidewalk, hit several parked cars and rammed the police car.

Oakland police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson says at least one officer opened fire, wounding the woman.

Watson says the woman, described as in her 20s, was shot more than once but was conscious and talking as she was taken to a hospital. Her condition was not available.

She says a male passenger in the stolen car was detained and was being questioned.
