Authorities say a sheriff's deputy in Louisiana has been shot multiple times while directing traffic in a school zone.
St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne says the shooting Thursday morning was apparently an ambush. It happened on U.S. Highway 90 near Louisiana Street in Paradis (PAR'-uh-dee), just west of New Orleans. The deputy was not identified.
Champagne says a suspect is in custody.
Champagne says the deputy is in stable but guarded condition.
