A southern Missouri man who fatally shot seven people before killing himself had a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit and marijuana in his system.

Texas County Sheriff James Sigman said Wednesday that crime lab testing also helped investigators conclude the victims were shot with the .45-caliber gun found beside Joseph Jesse Aldridge after he committed suicide in his pickup truck.

The shootings happened in February in the small unincorporated community of Tyrone. Sigman says Aldridge was the lone gunman, but the motive remains unclear.

Sigman says Aldridge was legally drunk and his blood had traces of marijuana, pain relievers, an antihistamine and an arthritis drug.
