ST. LOUIS – An appeals court says porn publisher Larry Flynt can join a lawsuit seeking to force Missouri to disclose more details of its execution methods.
A three-judge panel of the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis issued the ruling Tuesday. It reverses a lower court judge's denial of Flynt's request to join a suit filed by death row inmates.
Flynt opposes capital punishment. He sought to join the case shortly before the November 2013 execution of Joseph Paul Franklin for a 1977 sniper attack at a suburban St. Louis synagogue that left one person dead.
Franklin was a white supremacist who admitted to shooting Flynt in a 1978 attack in Georgia that left Flynt paralyzed from the waist down. Flynt's company produces adult videos and magazines, including Hustler.
