An ex-convict has pleaded not guilty to killing one person and wounding five others in a suburban Phoenix rampage that included multiple shootings, a carjacking and a home invasion.
A Maricopa County Superior Court spokesman says 41-year-old Ryan Giroux entered the plea Monday.
Giroux faces one count of first-degree murder and 22 other charges tied to the March 18 shootings in Mesa.
The rampage began at a motel where three people were shot. Another person was shot at a nearby restaurant and then two more at two apartment complexes.
Police swarmed the city in a massive response, and a search ended with Giroux's arrest in a vacant apartment.
Giroux has convictions in three states and spent time in prison in Arizona.
