What should have been a fun-filled Easter egg hunt in California turned rowdy, with toddlers crying and parents pushing to snag the colorful eggs.
The Sacramento Bee (http://bit.ly/1GvNNsn ) reports that organizers ordered 510,000 plastic eggs to try to break the world record of 501,000 from a 2007 hunt in Florida.
The event Saturday at the Capitol in Sacramento became chaotic when people lunged for the eggs as soon as they hit ground. Participants could trade in the shells for candy.
The newspaper reports that parents argued over whether adults should be allowed to help the kids. Some people complained that the event was poorly organized.
There was no record set because the eggs arrived just two days before the event, which was past the deadline for Guinness World Records certification.
