The executive vice president and general manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway has pleaded guilty to lewdness.

Manchester police say 53-year-old Jerry Gappens entered the plea Thursday in Manchester District Court.

Police were monitoring illicit activities Jan. 21 when they saw a woman get into Gappens' SUV. Police followed the car into a parking lot.

New Hampshire law says people are guilty of the misdemeanor if they fornicate, expose their genitals or perform another act of gross lewdness under circumstances that will likely cause alarm.

Gappens will pay a $500 fine and continue in counseling as part of a plea deal. His lawyer says Gappens acknowledged using poor judgment.

The speedway in Loudon is a stop for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in July and the Sylvania 300 in September.
