A replica of Abraham Lincoln's funeral train car will not recreate the trip that brought the president's body back to Springfield, Illinois, from Washington.

The 2015 Lincoln Funeral Train organization had planned to make the journey as part of the spring's commemorations of the 150th anniversary of the president's death.

Organizers say fundraising efforts fell $100,000 short.

Master mechanic David Kloke in Elgin, Illinois, spent about six years building the replica. The 48-foot-long train car is still scheduled be displayed at a May fundraising gala at a Springfield hotel, but it's unclear whether it will have a place in the official commemorative events in the state capital.

Shannon Brown is a spokeswoman for the organization backing Kloke. She tells the (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald (http://bit.ly/1MU8eRR ) they're disappointed.
