Police Chief Charlie Beck says a shooting that left two officers with minor injuries in South Los Angeles was gang-related.
Beck said Tuesday that the shooting stemmed from an ongoing feud between two prominent street gangs in the area known for violence and drug sales.
Officials say three people were questioned following the incident Sunday and later released pending further investigation. No arrests have been made.
It was unclear if the officers suffered gunshot wounds or were struck by shrapnel or glass. They were treated at the scene.
The chief said it's unlikely there is any connection to the fatal police shooting of an unarmed black man in the same area last year. The shooting of 25-year-old Ezell Ford during a struggle on Aug. 11 sparked outrage and legal claims.
