A Maine man accused of luring a 15-year-old girl to her death via Facebook says in a recorded police interview that she "wanted a serious relationship with him."
Twenty-one-year-old Kyle Dube (DOO'-bee), of Orono, is on trial for the kidnapping and murder of high school sophomore Nichole Cable, of Glenburn. Police had said Dube intended to stage a kidnapping of Nichole so he could find her and look like a hero. She died of asphyxiation.
On Wednesday, the jury listened to the police interview with Dube from May 16, 2013, after Nichole disappeared but before her body was discovered.
WABI-TV reports Dube said Nichole wanted him to stop seeing his girlfriend. The girlfriend has said Dube confessed the killing to her.
Prosecutors say the trial could end Thursday.
