Three corrections officers charged with seriously injuring an inmate during a beating at Attica state prison in 2011 have pleaded guilty.

The Wyoming County Court clerk's office says Keith Swack, Sean Warner and Matthew Rademacher admitted to misdemeanor charges of official misconduct Monday as jury selection was about to begin for their trial.

They had been charged with gang assault and evidence tampering. All were given conditional discharges.

The corrections officers are accused of beating then-29-year-old George Williams so severely in 2011 that he suffered broken bones in his legs and face. Williams was serving time at the maximum security upstate New York prison for stealing jewelry from two Manhattan stores in 2008 and 2009.

Corrections officials say they had been suspended without pay since 2011.
