A college has agreed to pay a New Hampshire city the remaining costs incurred during violent disturbances that broke out at last year's annual pumpkin fest.
The city of Keene billed Keene Pumpkin Festival's management firm $90,000 for overtime for police, fire and public works, but the organization said in January it would pay $59,000.
WMUR-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1Gzvu49) Friday that Keene State College decided to pay the remaining costs. College President Anne Huot says focusing on who should pay is preventing the community from moving forward to address broader issues.
More than 100 people were arrested after alcohol-fueled parties got out of hand Oct. 18 near the festival, leading to property destruction and injuries.
Huot said 170 students were disciplined over violent disturbances at parties coinciding with the festival.
