A judge in Detroit has scheduled a May 13 trial start for a 15-year-old area girl and her boyfriend on accusations they plotted to kill her family.

A suburban judge ruled Feb. 5 that there's enough evidence to try the girl and 23-year-old Michael Rivera on attempted murder and conspiracy charges.

A Wayne County Circuit judge set the trial date Thursday.

The girl is charged as an adult. Her parents say she and Rivera were lovers.

The Associated Press isn't naming her or family members because prosecutors have said they may file sex charges against Rivera.

Prosecutors say she stabbed her brother Oct. 17 in their Plymouth Township home. Police say Rivera guided the girl from outside the house, advising her on what knife to use.
