Officials in Maryland say a 911 dispatcher told a teenager to stop whining after a hit-and-run crash that killed her father.
The Capital (http://bit.ly/1zRAS32 ) reports the Anne Arundel County dispatcher is now in a position where he won't have contact with the public. Fire department Capt. Russ Davies says the dispatcher "used a poor choice of words" and that an investigation into the call is underway.
Davies declined to identify the operator.
On a recording of the Sunday call, the dispatcher tries to determine the location of a crash on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway in the Maryland City area. Thirty-eight-year-old Rick Warrick of Washington, D.C., was fatally injured when a car hit him as he changed a tire. His fiancee was injured.
The dispatcher twice tells Warrick's daughter to stop whining during the call.
