3rd man charged in alleged conspiracy to overthrow Gambian government

A third man has been charged in connection with last month's failed attempt to overthrow the government in the West African nation of Gambia.

Forty-one-year-old Alagie Barrow of Lavergne, Tennessee, is charged in federal court in Minnesota with breaking a law that makes it illegal to take military action against a country with whom the U.S. is "at peace." He also faces a weapons charge.

Barrow is a dual citizen of the U.S. and Gambia. Prosecutors say he went to Gambia in December to overthrow the government. They say he was responsible for bringing other group members to safe houses. He also conducted recognizance of the State House before the Dec. 30 attack.

It was not immediately clear whether Barrow had an attorney. Prosecutors say he has been arrested.
