A teacher at a California high school was put on administrative leave after posting a Facebook message in support of two teachers arrested for allegedly having sex with students at the beach.
Sean Patrick Kane, an art teacher at South Hills High School in West Covina, was placed on paid leave Thursday for a Facebook post directed toward the students, which read in part: "You should have just kept your stupid mouths shut and enjoyed it," according to Fox affiliate KTTV.
Covina Valley Unified School District teachers Melody Lippert, 38, and Michelle Ghirelli, 30, were arrested last weekend following allegations they engaged in sexual relations with students, Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Hallock said.
Lippert, a teacher at West Covina's South Hills High School, was believed to have met a group of male students last November at San Clemente State Beach, where she is accused of providing alcohol and having sexual contact with one of them, Hallock told the station.
Several weeks later, Lippert arranged an overnight camping trip to the same location with Ghirelli, another teacher, and several of the same high school students, Hallock said.
Police claim both teachers engaged in improper relations with two students during that camping trip. The camping trip was not a school or district sponsored event, according to Hallock.
