Two men from Yemen have been charged in a U.S. court with joining al-Qaida to attack American forces.
Prosecutors in New York say Saddiq Al-Abbadi and Ali Alvi were captured in Saudi Arabia before being brought to the United States.
Alvi was to appear Tuesday in federal court in Brooklyn. Al-Abbadi had an appearance Sunday.
Their lawyers couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
Court papers allege the men traveled to Pakistan in 2008 to get military training from al-Qaida before fighting against U.S. troops in Afghanistan. The papers say the men also helped an American from Long Island join the terror group.
