ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Police say an Albuquerque officer has been involved in a shooting, but declined to say if anyone was killed.
Albuquerque Deputy Chief Robert Huntsman told reporters Tuesday that an officer fired his weapon and that multiple suspects were connected.
But Huntsman says no officers were seriously injured. Police closed a portion of a busy eastern Albuquerque street while officers combed through the area.
Tuesday's shooting marks the department's third this year and comes a day after Bernalillo County District Attorney Kari Brandenburg announced she was seeking murder charges against two officers for the March shooting of a homeless man.
Last week, police say Lt. Greg Brachle shot and critically wounded by a fellow officer during an undercover drug bust. Earlier this month, an Albuquerque officer fired his weapon after he was shot and wounded during a traffic stop.
