A prosecutor has concluded a shopper who fatally shot a 16-year-old boy who held him up outside an Ohio mall days before Christmas acted in self-defense.

Montgomery County prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. says the man has been cleared of felony criminal charges. The prosecutor also says a 17-year-old boy has been released because of insufficient evidence.

Miami Township police had said three boys accosted two shoppers leaving the Dayton Mall after buying limited-edition Nike Air Jordan sneakers on Dec. 20. Police say one teen showed a gun and was shot by a shopper who had a concealed-weapons permit.

The other two boys were held in juvenile detention on charges including murder. The prosecutor's office said Friday no decision has been made on the case of the 16-year-old still held.
