A lawsuit brought by a man who was molested by a Boy Scout leader in 2007 could force the organization to reveal years of perversion files.
Files detailing sex abuse allegations that were kept by the organization between 1960 and 1991 already have been made public.
The potential release of more recent files — from 1991 to 2007 — would reveal whether the Boy Scouts improved efforts to protect children.
The plaintiff was sexually abused by an adult volunteer while the two worked at a Christmas tree lot fundraiser.
The Boy Scouts of America say in a statement that the volunteer's behavior was unacceptable but declined to comment on the larger issue of the files.
