An Alaska man accidentally shot his 12-year-old daughter in the leg as he tried to move the gun to hide it from other patients at a physical therapy office.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports (http://is.gd/17qu3l ) that the Fairbanks girl was released from the hospital Tuesday after undergoing surgery. The bullet grazed her right leg and lodged in her left thigh.

Police say the shooting happened Monday when the father removed his jacket but didn't want other patients to see the .40-caliber pistol on his belt holster.

As he moved the gun to a jacket pocket, the trigger caught on the fabric and fired.

The bullet went through the unidentified man's forearm before striking his daughter.

Police forwarded their investigation to prosecutors for possible charges.
