ELIZABETH, N.J. – New York Jets linebacker Jermaine Cunningham has been charged with sharing explicit photos of a female friend.
The Union County prosecutor's office said Tuesday that Cunningham was arrested Dec. 29 in Summit. The 26-year-old is charged with criminal mischief, invasion of privacy and unlawful weapons transport.
Cunningham was released on his own recognizance. It wasn't immediately known if he had an attorney.
Prosecutors allege Cunningham violated a law that forbids disclosing photos or videos without the consent of someone "whose intimate parts are exposed" or who is engaged in a sexual act. They say the woman and Cunningham lived together.
A prosecutor's spokesman says a loaded handgun was found in Cunningham's Audi.
The fifth-year pro missed last season with a torn Achilles tendon.
The team declined to comment on the arrest.
